The Scarecrows’ Harvest Festival
As it is some years since we had an event with ‘Open Days’ for the public, the Flower Committee have chosen to have one for this year leading up to our Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday on 1st October.
While we always give thanks for our harvest, we rather overlook the longstanding, weathered, solitary figure which stands guard in the field, and so we are celebrating The Scarecrows’ Harvest Festival, where displays set in the church will greet the visitor with humour, themed to well-known nursery rhymes and childrens’ characters together with harvest produce and flowers.
Teas will be provided in the small hall and the proceeds from the event will go to Mary’s Meals and SADSA (South Ayrshire Dementia Support Association).
Our scarecrows will be taken down before our normal Harvest Service and distribution on the Sunday.
