Christian Aid Week
For 2021, Christian Aid is focusing on the effects of climate change.
People are caught in a cycle of climate chaos. From severe drought to flooding, extreme weather robs them of what they need to survive: a reliable source of water. The climate crisis has galvanised extreme weather and communities are feeling the brunt of it. For months at a time, families live with drought.
The source of the river motivates, sustains and inspires us to raise our prophetic voices for climate justice. We come to the source of the water of life, to dwell in the presence of God in prayer. Every day, people living in poverty are battling a crisis they did not create. This is unjust. Your gift could help a community build an earth dam, so when the rains do come, they will have the water they need to live. A reliable source of water will help families withstand long drought or relentless rainstorms.
Donate to Christian Aid while you give thanks for the Covid vaccine
As more of our family, friends and neighbours receive their COVID vaccinations, we rejoice and are glad that our loved ones are protected. “We give thanks for all the NHS staff and key workers who continue to save lives across the UK. For the poorest and most vulnerable communities across the world, there is little hope of a vaccine rollout. These people already face a lack of water, food and healthcare. Some are homeless. Some are living with underlying health issues such as HIV. Christian Aid is already on the ground, helping keep people safe from Coronavirus with practical support – but with your gift of thanks we can do more. Have you or your loved ones had your vaccine? Please give thanks with a donation to help protect our global neighbours while the vaccine is out of reach.
Donations can be made to Christian Aid via the website: www.christianaid.org.uk/
Great God, Who makes the sun to rise, and opens the heavens
Hear the cry of the people who sow in hope for rain, but reap only despair
Hear the cry of the people seeking shelter from the storm, their hopes and homes submerged
Hear the cry of the people, when creation is hitting back, with rage and resistance
Give us hope, grant us salvation, Give us a new relationship with creation
With reverence to tend this gift from You
And say once again of the earth and all you created It is GOOD. (Bob Kikuyu)
